El Pikoteo: the menu, laid out on the table.
A website from scratch for a bar and restaurant in El Grau de Castelló, Spain: the full menu as real text for Google, paella orders via WhatsApp with the message ready to send, and a continuous zoom into the paella, down to the grain.

Where it started
A bar and restaurant open since 2019 on Paseo de Sebastián Elcano, with its printed menu, its photos and no website of its own.
A restaurant website has to answer four questions fast: what’s on the menu, how much it costs, whether it’s open today and how to book a table or order the paella. And Google has to be able to read the menu, which it can’t do with a PDF or a photo.
The idea: The Table
The website is their menu laid out on the table. Each section is a moment of the meal: small plates, sharing, the set lunch menu, the house, what people say, where and when, and booking.
The colors come from their printed menu (cream, paper, black and a red used only for prices and buttons), and the type is condensed and all caps, like their logo.

Key technique
- 01Continuous zoom
A single photo of the paella grows with the scroll down to the grain of rice, scaling with transform only so it stays smooth on mobile too.
- 02Back to the same spot
Every history entry saves its position; come back from the menu and the home page is right where you left it, not at the top.
- 03Page transitions
Real pages (each with its own URL, good for Google) with a crossfade between them that’s skipped when you go back.
